As a response to protests from divers worldwide and the pressure from Egyptian associations, fishing is again forbidden in the National Park of Ras Mohamed. Last week the Governor of South Sinai had issued an unpopular decree, allowing Bedouins fishing in the National Park, while the spawning season for the Snapper started.This could have had disastrous effects to the famous reefs in the area. Therefore we are very glad for the change and want to thank the diving community, which locally and internationally supported and help to spread the petition and the campaign.
And we would also like to thank the delegation representing the Bedouin fishermen for their understanding and cooperation.
